If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world.

– J. R. R. Tolkien

Food connects us. It’s a universal language that brings people of all ages, origins, and classes together. Food soothes the body and the soul, and is the ultimate cure for any problem. I believe that cooking is something everyone can and should learn. People are apprehensive to start because they’re afraid they’ll mess it up. You probably will. But you’ll get better, and it will be worth it. To me, cooking is an art AND a science. It’s an art to create the recipe, it’s a science to follow it. The most important thing for a new cook is a good recipe. My love for cooking was inspired by my mother. So many wonderful memories are tied to enjoying her cooking, and many of the recipes I share are ones she’s shared with me. While some of the recipes here are ones I’ve created myself, many are ones that I’ve discovered and loved, or had shared with me by others. Recipes aren’t things you take credit for – you find them, perfect them, and share them. Enjoy!
