Fashion. It’s something I’ve always appreciated, and wanted to understand. Like all art, the understanding is in the interpretation; there is no one right way to define it. Everyone has a different definition of what “fashion” really is, and I think Cynthia Durcanin hit it on the head.
Fashion is a state of mind. A spirit, an extension of one’s self. […] Most of all fashion is about being comfortable with yourself, translating self-esteem into a personal style.
In its broadest sense, fashion is an expression of a feeling. All looks can be described, and through being chosen by the wearer, do something to… Fashion is always changing, and I always found it hard to tell what the trends were, and how those things became trends in the first place.
The collections in Paris, New York, and Milan, and now London, typically set the stage for the industry one year in advance. Though, I think the street is the real barometer of style. More and more designers are drawing their inspiration from life on the street.
Trends, to me, originate with people who enjoy pushing the envelope by creating and trying new things.
